‘Sithech’

‘Sithech’

Created by brothers Sky Shaw and Travis Shaw. A short stint back home found Travis and Sky putting their heads together to bring you ‘Sithech’. They spent three months surfing and filming in the north east of England and The Scottish highlands.
With Sky being in Australia for the past two and a half years through the pandemic the duo were reunited late 2022.

Pat Curren passes

Pat Curren passes

Pat charging Wiamea in the 50s, heavy gun, no leash… Imagine…

Pat Curren , one of surfings most enigmatic characters has passed away. He was 90.

Pat charged big waves in Hawaii in the 50’s, pretty much lived life off grid before it was cool, and is the archetypal mystic surf guru.

He is the father of Tom and Joe Curren and grand father to a bunch of charging grandchildren such as Lee Ann Curren.

In the 60s his big-wave boards were considered the best in the world. In 2021 one he had shaped sold for $26,000 + commission!

Proper surfing legend.

Thoughts are with his family.

A playground to a very select few, the Banzai Pipeline can take you from hero, to zero in a split second. Not much beats backlit Pipe, hit the link for all the drone action from the North Shore.

Cortes Bank XXL

Cortes Bank XXL

The Cortes Bank is a shallow seamount (a barely submerged island) sitting in the North Pacific Ocean. It is 96 miles southwest of San Pedro, Los Angeles, 111 miles (166 kilometers) west of Point Loma, San Diego, and 47 miles (82 kilometers) southwest of San Clemente Island in Los Angeles County. It is considered the outermost feature in California’s Channel Islands chain. – Clever stuff courtesy of wikipedia.

Who wouldn’t fancy surfing a shallow seamount 96 miles in the middle of the ocean, well, me for one. Thankfully those are others on this spinning globe with less of a hangover and more get up and go, hit play to watch some of the finest big wave surfers including Andrew Cotton, Lucas Chumbo and Justine Dupont, full respect to all the team, we salute you all.

What will you be doing when you’re 65?

65 year-old surfing legend Michael Ho took his son Mason Ho’s place at the 2023 Dahui Backdoor Shootout. He went on to catch two  massive 2nd reef waves! The guy is a straight up legend, full respect to him and all the competitors that took part.
