Jamie O’Brien has spent more time surfing Pipeline than the average person has spent watching television. Given that Pipe more-or-less is Jamie’s living room this kinda makes sense. Kinda. Jamie has put the hard yards in at the North Shore’s holy grail, and his reflexive surfing at the Banzai is a clear reflection of the hours he has spent in the water, a stone’s throw from his balcony, or lanai, for anyone who’s been to Hawaii.

Repetition can however bring boredom, and while most surfers might consider surfing a different wave or enjoying a well-earned lay day, Jamie has found the best way to tame the *tedium* of seven-outta-ten Pipeline lies in a few extra inches and a whole lot more foam… enter the soft-top!

In the latest instalment of Following, join Jamie as he test drives a few of his foamie favourites at Pipeline and beyond, fully proving that the man is capable of riding just about anything at one of the craziest waves on the planet. Sit back, get the popcorn going and enjoy the latest episode of Following.

Finally back in the land of plenty. After two years of been locked in Australia I got the green pass to travel again. So as I treat Nazaré in Portugal as my second home I got the fastest flight over here. So week one was epic. Literally some of the best big wave paddle sessions i have got to shoot here at the home of the biggest ridable waves. 3 X time WORLD BIG WAVE Champion Grant ‘Twiggy’ Baker set the pace with some all-time rides.

The Search through the Indonesian archipelago is a ‘right-of-passage’ of sorts for most aspiring professional surfers. Multiple regions, full of diverse waves, empty blue canvases, perfect for honing in on any skill set. Big barrels, long lefts, air waves… Indo truly has it all.

However, most the waves, while seemingly dreamy and inviting, have dire consequences. Shallow reefs, sketchy paddle-outs, dry end sections, the list goes on. Any surfer that’s paddled these lineups while pumping, knows the result of hesitation. While easier said than done, there is no room for a lack of commitment here.

When Erin Brooks booked her Indo jaunt last season, she had no idea the forecast that lay ahead. Perfect Kandui, magical Mentawai’s and a handful of idyllic Indo lineup were awaiting her arrival.

While Erin has surfed heavy waves all over the world, most notably around her home of Hawaii, there aren’t many waves that prep you for Indo. You just have to go. And go Erin did.

London Surf / Film Festival is bringing to the UK 3 World Premieres, 1 European Premiere and 4 UK Premieres. But it’s about more than that. Founded a decade ago, around a kitchen table after a few good deep mid winter waves, Chris Nelson and Demi Taylor had the idea of bringing together the UK surf tribes to share the stoke, the storytelling and the very best surf culture. It has grown to become the must-attend gathering for the global waveriding collective, weaving together a true slice of surfing in the here and now, a showcase of the multi-layered world of waveriding.

For many of the movies premiered, the festival will be the only chance to watch them as they were intended to be enjoyed – on the big screen, accompanied by likeminded folk – the original “social media” experience.  You’re not going to want to miss this!

After a historically flat summer with especially crowded line-ups, Kyllian Guérin and Justin Becret, in desperate need of crystalline waves and tropical vibes, set off on a whirlwind mission “Somewhere in The Caribbean”.

One of the first hurricanes of the season was announced the day before, and it took the two competitors from the Rip Curl Team, less than two hours to pack their bags and catch the first flight, heading west for a new Search Trip “Somewhere” in the Caribbean. A short trip but a fast-paced one between point, beach and reef breaks, alternating puddle-jumper flights, boat trips and rough dirt roads.

To keep you nice and warm while waiting for Christmas, we’re sharing a few images from this fast-motion trip featuring two iconic French surfers of their generation, Kyllian Guérin and Justin Becret.
